LaFaye Dellinger
Born number 9 of 10 children on a South Georgia Farm.
Moved to Alabama at age 12. Educated in the Phenix City and Lee County School System
Graduated from Smiths Station High School.
Housewife and stay at home mother until the end of 1981.
Married to Richard E. Dellinger, together we have four children, Jeff, Melissa, Ted, and Lynne. Grandmother of Jake, Ashley, Josh, Kelley(deceased), Trevor, Zachary, Olivia, Logan, and great grandson Peter.
Served as Youth Director for three churches; PTA President, Vice President; PTA Council President and Vice President
Employed Auburn University January 01, 1982 through December 30, 1999.
During my tenure at Auburn University, I completed various management courses at the University of Georgia, Auburn University, Georgia Southwestern, University of Tennessee, University of North Carolina, and Mississippi State.
Retired from Auburn University January 01, 2000.
Became involved in the incorporation effort of Smiths Station as a city in 1997.
In August 1998 was selected as Chairperson of the Smiths Unity Campaign for Incorporation
Following a successful vote for incorporation in 1999 Smiths Station was declared an incorporated city on June 22, 2001.
Elected the first Mayor of Smiths Station on July 24, 2001.
Re-elected Mayor in 2004 and 2008.
